Good to see that our ministers are well paid. Else you will see things like the president appointing trustees to judges positions like what Bush did.
Initially I thought our ministers pays are $2k a year because I thought their pay is proportionate to population:
USA : 300 million population, President annual pay is $200K
Singapore: 4 million population, so president annual pay should be $2.6k.
Good to see that singapore president is being paid $1+million. He seems to be doing a fantastic job at minimising croynism. -

govt take all your money, then when times are bad, they come out something like singapore shares, give it to u make u feel that u actually get something from them. But in fact those are what u have contributed to them b4. -

I prefer our system to the US system where the money comes from businesses. -

We thought they should listen to us, it ended up they are telling us what we should do.
Other questions remain, if they were paid less, would they stay? if there are problems in singapore, would they run?
Country leaders are elected, not employed. They are paid not just the money, a lot of power comes with the job. Too much, now. -

No wonder poor rich gap keep getting bigger, not getting smaller.
No wonder not many Singaporeans want to marry and have kids.
No wonder Singapore don't need to change Prime Minister so often.
No wonder we need two integrated casinos.
No wonder so many jobs that are supposed to be given to Singaporeans are being outsourced to China and India.
No wonder PM Lee wants to be the Finance Minister. His pay is about the same as our President.

I don't mind paying Singapore tax, its much much lower than taxes in western countries.

Too high? How much is too high? Where do you draw the line? I'll rather pay them millions than put them under pressure to embezzle hundreds of millions. -
