Err wats Cryonism my ang moh not so good...Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Good to see that our ministers are well paid. Else you will see things like the president appointing trustees to judges positions like what Bush did.
Initially I thought our ministers pays are $2k a year because I thought their pay is proportionate to population:
USA : 300 million population, President annual pay is $200K
Singapore: 4 million population, so president annual pay should be $2.6k.
Good to see that singapore president is being paid $1+million. He seems to be doing a fantastic job at minimising croynism.

Think again bro.US has so many billions compared to our little red dot. Juz look at the exchange rate.Originally posted by Salman:I think its money well worth. What a couple of millions to run a rich country like country.
I prefer our system to the US system where the money comes from businesses.
Are they employed to manage the money, I thought we have bankers?Originally posted by Salman:I think its money well worth. What a couple of millions to run a rich country like country.

Wait till you understand the US system where they really tax you hard on federal and state level and spend your money on welfare & illegal aliens.Originally posted by sgdiehard:Are they employed to manage the money, I thought we have bankers?
We thought we elected them to run a country, they now think they are master of the house.
We thought they should listen to us, it ended up they are telling us what we should do.
Other questions remain, if they were paid less, would they stay? if there are problems in singapore, would they run?
Country leaders are elected, not employed. They are paid not just the money, a lot of power comes with the job. Too much, now.
Really? You sure???Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Good to see that our ministers are well paid. Else you will see things like the president appointing trustees to judges positions like what Bush did.

You think we are not??? We do not have the transparency to show you how our funds are directed cause it would be really disgracefulOriginally posted by Salman:Wait till you understand the US system where they really tax you hard on federal and state level and spend your money on welfare & illegal aliens.
The money that came from businesses and special interest groups distorts rational decison making. I'm sorry mister, we cannot afford that kinda system.
crony means close companion. cronyism means giving jobs or appointments to one's own friends or, as in our local context, kakis.Originally posted by larrenV2.003:Err wats Cryonism my ang moh not so good...![]()
Clear explanation... But once again Cindyfeh, you sure sg doesn't have "cronyism"?Originally posted by pearlie27:crony means close companion. cronyism means giving jobs or appointments to one's own friends or, as in our local context, kakis.

I am simply saying that the ministers pay are too high and there is an urgent need to check on the power that come with the jobs.Originally posted by Salman:Wait till you understand the US system where they really tax you hard on federal and state level and spend your money on welfare & illegal aliens.
