Nuisance Individuals....

I'm not sure how difficult this is gonna be with the programming part (I'm not really into programming...)... But I've seen cases of unneccesary FLAMING and such going on... I guess the usual solution would be to have the nick ELIMINATED for the more extreme cases...?
I was thinking if it's possible for moderators to come up with an ADDITIONAL FUNCTION, that is to BAN certain nuisance nicks from entering his/her forum....? Instead of having to close/ delete some originally perfectly meaningful threads which are 'polluted' by those 1-2 times posters....?
I know this might cause some unneccesary problems indirectly, but its also advisable that the moderators use it SPARINGLY only against those OBVIOUS trouble-makers...?

yeah, maybe a ban for the person for that particular thread will be good..

I know there're people who simply can't control their emotions at times.... That's why I also mentioned that the function would be used SPARINGLY.... And should be PARTICULARLY USED against nicks which are SOLELY USED for FLAMING PURPOSE only.... -
sorry lah but i think it will a bit too subjective sometimes to be fair...
bcos in such forums huh...watever the mod do, everyone sure got something to say...like if the topic is "What do you think of F4?" sure got some pple come in and scold F4 l ah scold the fans, scold them stopid...some call it flame, some will call it their comments, so by then how to decide?
haiz difficult lah...of cos can take the route of whatever MOD says is final, that may be the best route, but haiz...u noe humans...

this is forum.... of any post are being restricted... then no point posting here. cos human have their own bias/stereotype, it might be unfair because in the future, some moderators might because they dont like a perticular person and ban them. i mean it already happen in the mirc world. So i hope it wont happen here....
its a forum, why not just let us hv the freedom to post, unless it provokes the R & R of Sgforums?
lock/remove it will be the best solution, anyway, who is going to remember wat we ever post here in the future?

In such instances such you've mentioned where BOTH parties or MORE are involved in a FLAMING in thread... The topic can be closed as it no longer serve its purpose...
But in other instances where other forumites still wanna carry on with a proper discussion... And have the thread ruined by some nicks just created for the sake of FLAMING.... MEANINGLESS flaming... You get the picture...?
However, I do agree with you that the responsibility of that function might be too high for moderators to bear... Perhaps we should have it in the hands of the administrator instead and have the moderators lodge the complain if it's really necessary then...?

I'm in full support of Devil1976's suggestion. I think the rights of the majority to have a conducive and hassel free environment to chat in should not affected by the acts of certain disruptive minority.

People still can argue and flame once in a while... Idea crushes are inevitable... And netter whose SOLE ACT, nick and lifespan created in sgforum is just out for CREATING TROUBLE in the forums, I don't see anything good about it..? We DO SUPPORT 'Freedom of Speech'... And it doesn't mean that you'll be banned just because you crushed with the majority or so...

Banning can only be done by the Admin
Mods can pool evidence and submit a short report to the Admin. -
